Holy Week and EASTER
The church of St Mary the Virgin, Mendlesham, a village near Stowmarket, Suffolk, is an Anglican parish church in the diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, under the pastoral care of Bishop Norman Banks, Bishop of Richborough.
St Mary's is a very special building - a reminder of the presence of Jesus Christ within the Community, a sacred space where we encounter God in silence and in worship and which resonates holiness. It is a centre of care; a place where the sick are healed and sinners (and that is all of us) find forgiveness. It is also a place where the community gathers to mark important stages of life and an outstanding architectural beauty.
All are welcome to visit, pray, join our congregation in worshipping Almighty God or simply enjoy this beautiful place.
The church is open every day from 9.00 am until about 4.00 pm.
Facilities for children and the disabled: please see 'How to Find the Church'

We have been touched by the great support and many kindnesses offered in the wake of the sad act of vandalism when the 70 year-old figures of 3 Wise Men in our outside crib were decapitated in January. The goodwill and love shown in all kinds of ways, including a spontaneous collection of money in the village and several offers to repair the figures and provide a stronger crib housing (a more 'stable' stable!) by people both in the parish and far beyond who were appalled by the action has far outweighed the mindlessness or hatred which caused this act of destruction. Good inevitably triumphs evil!
A total of £221.05 has been given through the collection in the village shop organised by Hayley Skilling, a donation from the Mendlesham Fundraisers Angela Lockwood, Madeleine and Chris Watson and a cheque from Jean, a friend of St Mary's who lives in Durham.
We will keep you posted about further developments
We continue to work with Stowmarket Churches Together, alongside some local businesses and the Council in supporting the Stowmarket Foodbank, to provide emergency food parcels for people experiencing crisis in Stowmarket and the surrounding areas throughout the year.
There are two red boxes in St Mary's Mendlesham near the porch door for people to contribute dried and canned foods, plus tea, coffee and toiletries.
Volunteers work with local organisations to identify individuals and families who can benefit.
It is good to know that many people in the village are giving regularly so that the boxes fill rapidly. Please continue to donate to this worthwhile project.
